OS show error ‘cannot connect to server’ after restore from BMR

Issue Description

Suse11SP1 system show below error after restore from BMR by NBU7507:


Handling Process

Step 1. Login the client OS and get the NIC driver file, the file name is /lib/modules/2.6.32.59-0.7-default/kernel/drivers/net/tg3.ko

Step 2. Copy tg3.ko file to NBU server and add this file into SRT. 

Follow the step below:

①Under/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/, run /bmrsrtadm


②Select 7 to check the SRT name.


③Select 5 to set SRT.


④Select 5 to add the driver to SRT.


⑤Select 1 to add the kernel driver.


⑥Select the corresponding driver to add it to SRT.


Root Cause

When BMR restore the OS, it will connect to client by DHCP. It will show like below after connect successfully.


The DHCP configuration is ok if you can see the picture.

The error shows that can't connect to NBU server, it means the connection has some problem.

Check the DCHP IP address by ifconfig command, found that there is no ip address. There is no job or log in NBU server. So we think it is the NIC driver problem.

Suggestions

Install the NIC driver in SRT.
