Issue Description
A backup job fails and the error code 37 (operation requested by an invalid server) is reported in the Activity Monitor.

After details about the backup job are checked, it is found that the error message operation requested by an invalid server (37) is displayed.

Handling Process
1.  Log in to the operating system of the HDP3500E master server as user root. The default password and port are Root@storage and 2222.

2.  Run the vi /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf command to edit the bp.conf file.

Add MEDIA_SERVER = hostname to the bp.conf file. hostname indicates the host name of the media server.

3.  Restart the NetBackup service of the HDP3500E master server.

   a. Run the /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.kill_all command to stop the NetBackup service.
b.Run the /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bp.start_all command to start the NetBackup service.

4.  Perform the backup job again.
Root Cause
Possible Causes:

The bp.conf file of the master server does not contain the information about the media server.

Fault Diagnosis:

After details about the backup job are checked, it is found that the backup job uses a storage unit of the media server, as shown in Figure 1. (hdp3500e is an example of the media server's host name and the corresponding storage unit is stu-hdp3500e.)
