Publication Date:  2015-07-29 Views:  44 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Product and version:

The HDP3500E uses the /home/oracle/hot_database_backup.sh backup script to back up the Oracle database. The backup fails and symptoms are as follows:

After details about the backup job on the HDP3500E are checked, it is found that the error message the backup failed to back up the requested files (6) is displayed.

After the backup login RMAN of the Oracle database is checked, it is found that the error message Failed to load Media Management Library is displayed.

Handling Process
1.  Check whether the media management library of the Oracle database is linked with the library provided by the NetBackup.

Run the ls /mountpoint/oracle/9i/db/lib/libobk.so -lh command.

If the command output is the same as the preceding figure, the link is correct and go to 2.
If the link is incorrect, link the media management library of the Oracle database with the library provided by the NetBackup again.

2.  Add PARMS='SBT_LIBRARY=/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/libobk.so' of the media management library's position information to the /home/oracle/hot_database_backup.sh backup script.

3.  Perform the backup job again.
Root Cause
The media management library of the Oracle database is not linked with the library provided by the NetBackup.

Suggestions
Generally, after the media management library of the Oracle database is linked with the library provided by the NetBackup, the Oracle database can be successfully backed up. As for some specific Oracle database versions such as Oracle 9i of SuSE 9 in this case, the link must be specified in the backup script so that the backup can succeed.
