Power Module Alarms

Issue Description
1.  The power running/alarm indicator is steady red.

2.  The power running/alarm indicator is blinking red.

3.  After the system power supply is switched on, certain power running/alarm indicators are blinking green.

NOTE:
The following uses an AC power module as an example. The procedure also applies to a DC power module.

Figure 1 shows the locations of the AC power modules in a HDP3500E chassis.

Handling Process
Symptom 1: The power running/alarm indicator is steady red.

Cause 1: The power module is faulty.

1.  Check the number of power modules with the power running/alarm indicator being steady red.
  • If only one power running/alarm indicator is steady red and the others are steady green, only one power module is faulty, go to step 2.
  • If all the power running/alarm indicators are steady red, go to cause 2.
2.  Remove and reinsert the power module with the power running/alarm being steady red.
  • If the power running/alarm indicator is steady green, the fault is rectified.
  • If the fault persists, replace the power module.
3.  After the power module is replaced, if the power running/alarm indicator is steady green, the fault is rectified.

4.  If the fault persists, contact the technical support engineers of your vendor.

Cause 2: The power module is in protection mode.

Disconnect the HDP3500E from all power supplies and contact the technical support engineers of your vendor.

CAUTION:
Do not switch on the system power supply to power on the device again.

Symptom 2: The power running/alarm indicator is blinking red.

Cause: The power input is in undervoltage or overvoltage protection.

1.  Check the number of power modules with the power running/alarm indicator blinking red.
  • If only one power running/alarm indicator is blinking red and the other power running/alarm indicators are steady green, go to step 2.
  • If all the power running/alarm indicators are blinking red, contact the technical support engineers of your vendor.
2.  Remove and reconnect the cable on the power module with the power running/alarm indicator blinking red. Ensure that the HDP3500E is properly connected to the power socket.
  • If the power running/alarm indicator is steady green, the fault is rectified.
  • If the fault persists, replace the power module. For details, see Replacing a Power Module.
3.  If the fault persists, contact the technical support engineers of your vendor.

Symptom 3: After the system power supply is switched on, certain power running/alarm indicators are blinking green.

Cause: The power module is faulty.

1.  Replace the faulty power module by referring to Replacing a Power Module.

2.  After the power module is replaced, check the status of the power running/alarm indicator on the new power module.
  • If the power running/alarm indicator is steady green, the fault is rectified.
  • If the fault persists, contact the technical support engineers of your vendor.

Root Cause
Possible Causes:

Symptom 1:
The power running/alarm indicator is steady red.

Cause 1: The power module is faulty.

Cause 2: The power module is in protection mode.

Symptom 2: The power running/alarm indicator is blinking red.

NOTE:
When the HDP3500E is being powered on, the power running/alarm indicator does not blink red. When the HDP3500E is being powered off, the power running/alarm indicator blinks red and finally turns off.

Cause: The power input is in undervoltage or overvoltage protection.

Symptom 3: After the system power supply is switched on, certain power running/alarm indicators are blinking green.

Cause: The power module is faulty.
