Issue Description
Fan running/alarm indicator is steady red.

Handling Process
Cause 1: The fan with the red indicator is not properly installed or the connection pins are bent.

1.  Open the rear cover.

NOTE:
Before you open the rear cover, execute the shutdown command to power off the HDP3500E and then disconnect the HDP3500E from the power socket and other devices.

For details, see Replacing a Fan Module and Opening a Main Control Board Enclosure Top Cover.

2.  Check whether the fan module plug and adapter plug are damaged.

Figure 2 shows the matrix between fan running/alarm indicator and the fans.

 NOTE:
There are five fan running/alarm indicators on the mainboard, as shown in Figure 2.
When the fan module is running properly, the five fan running/alarm indicators are steady green.
When an alarm occurs on the fan, the indicator of this fan is steady red.

If the plugs are normally connected, proceed with the following operations.
If the plug of the fan is damaged, replace the fan.
For details about how to replace a HDP3500E fan module, see Replacing a Fan Module.
If the plug of the adapter is damaged, contact the technical support engineers of your vendor.

3.  Insert the fan and make sure the plug is firmly connected.

4.  Check the status of the fan running/alarm indicator.
  • If the fan running/alarm indicator is steady green, the fault is rectified.
  • If the fault persists, go to cause 2.
Cause 2: The cable connecting the mainboard to the fan is not properly connected.

1.  Check whether the cable is correctly connected, as shown in Figure 2.
  • If the cable is correctly connected, go to cause 3.
  • If the cable is not properly connected, proceed with the following operations.
2.  Remove the cable and plug it in again.

NOTE:
Before you remove and reinsert the cable, execute the shutdown command to power off the HDP3500E and then disconnect the HDP3500E from the power socket and other devices.

If the fan running/alarm indicator is steady green, the fault is rectified.
If the fault persists, go to cause 3.

Cause 3: The fan is faulty.

1.  Replace the fan module.

For details about how to replace a fan module, see Replacing a Fan Module.

2.  After replacing the faulty fan, if the running/alarm indicator is steady green, the fault is rectified.

3.  If the fault persists, contact the technical support engineers of your vendor.
