cusotmer created new ubuntu VM base on template in FM portal. but the VM can not be assigned IP via static IP injection method, please check the screenshot as attached.

Alarm Information
there is no alarm.
Handling Process

1.check the OS version meet the requirement of compatibility list.

2.and the PVdriver version meet the requirement also.

3.logi the VM via VNC, and we found there is 'setpass.sh' script in this path:/etc/init.d/, if there is no this script, it will result the rc sricpt can not be executed.

[from product document:for SUSE/Ubuntu/Debian OS, excuete the path to open this file:vi /etc/init.d/rc

in this file, if the last work with 'exit 0',please add this command sh /etc/init.d/setpasswd.sh]

4.check the OS file system format, the file system is LVM format as below:

5.and check the partition in this file system, there are 3 partitions:xvda1/xvda2/xvda5, and the partition ID is B3/5/Be.system can not recognize this partition ID since it is not continue ID on xvda1 and xvda5.so fusion cloud system can not detect this partition.

Root Cause

Fusion cloud system can not recognize the LVM format file system.

Solution

1. re-install the OS with startdard format(esx2 or esx3)

2. convert the command format to sh.---only for ubuntu OS.

A: sudo rm /bin/sh

B: sudo ln –s /bin/bash /bin/sh

Suggestions

if fusion cloud not support LVM format. it needs RD to update the product document accordingly.
