The disk alarm can't be cleared after changing the slot online for LSI2208 card

Issue Description

There is a RAID 5 with 5 disks(Slot0-4) on RH2288A V2 server installed LSI 2208 RAID card. The disk in Slot3 was removed when the system is running, and triggerred iBMC report Disk3 In Failed Array alarm. Install the disk of Slot3 into the Slot5 and clear the RAID configuration of this disk. Then configure the disk in Slot5 as a hot spare disk. The RAID5 was restored after reconstruction. But iBMC still reported Disk3 In Failed Array alarm.

Handling Process

1)Power off the server and plug out all disks.

2)Power on the server, enter the RAID configuration interface by press 'Ctrl+H' during POST period. Configuration WizardClear Configuration to clear the RAID configuration.

3)Power off the server again and plug in all disks.

4)Power on the server and enter the RAID configuration interface by press 'Ctrl+H' during POST period. Scan Drives→Preview→Import to import the RAID configuration.

Root Cause

The RAID card will record all the member disks slot information in the RAID group, the alarm of the failed disk will be still reported when one member disk was failed even after the RAID group can be restored by reconstruction with the spare disk in other slot. This is used to remind customer there was a RAID member disk in this slot and it is not restore. It means the current slot of the disk is different with the original slot.

Solution

1)Power off the server and plug out all disks.

2)Power on the server, enter the RAID configuration interface by press 'Ctrl+H' during POST period. Configuration WizardClear Configuration to clear the RAID configuration.

3)Power off the server again and plug in all disks.

4)Power on the server and enter the RAID configuration interface by press 'Ctrl+H' during POST period. Scan Drives→Preview→Import to import the RAID configuration.
