Some file systems of N8500 are offline

Publication Date:  2016-04-19 Views:  34 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

Some disks are failed and some file systems are offline. And fail to online FS.

When get the flags of FS, there is a error  "fsdb: cannot read super-block, bad super-block or metadata".

Alarm Information

There are many alarms, but they are already recovered:

The temperature of disk enclosure is high.

And some RAID groups are fault.
Handling Process

1) Check the status of RAID and LUN of storage. All LUNs resumed normal.

2) Check the status of disks in N8000. Some disks still failed.

3)Run the cmd "stroage scanbus" to make the disks normal.

4) Run the cmd "storage fs online $fsname" to make FS online. $fsname is just an example.

Root Cause

Due to bad air-condition, the temperature of disk enclosure is high. The high temperature threshold of disks enclosure is 56°C.  If its temperature is over it, the related RAID groups will be fault.  RAID groups are fault, and LUNs can’t be access, which lead to some file systems offline.

Suggestions
To make the storage run normally, it needs to keep the air condition working well and keep the temperature of IT room under 56°C.
