version is not the same as backup iBMC version

Publication Date:  2016-06-22 Views:  77 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

After we finished the installation of the Servers , we should run a inspection for all the servers .

Alarm Information

After the inspection , we found that there is a warning :

Warning

Active iBMC version is not the same as backup iBMC version.
Active iBMC: 2.02
Backup iBMC: 1.93

Handling Process

Usually we need to upgrade the BMC twice ,  but the onsite engineer only upgrade the back BMC version .

After the upgrade , the BMC will restart , the backup will be the actived one and the original active one will be the backup iBMC version .

This is why we saw the Active iBMC and the Backup iBMC is not the same version .

Root Cause

When we upgrade the BMC , by default , the system will uprage the back iBMC , then we have to do the upgrade again .

Solution

We can uprage this backup iBMC through the web or through the tool uMate .

Suggestions

When upgrading the iBMC , we need pay attention to :

1. This upgrade will not restart the server , so we doesn't need to stop the service .

2. We need to do the upgrade twice .
