the IPpool is locked. the user can’t re-attach APN

Issue Description

         The customer wants to modify the section of the IPpool, customer run the following MML command, “FRE IPPOOL”, “RMV SECTION”, “ADD SECTION”. When customer run the “ADD SECTION” command, the GWP、UPP progress reboot, which cause the S1AP link alarm/ cell unavailable and the users’s re-attach. While the operation of section modification, the IPpool is locked. So the user in this APN can’t re-attach, the users re-attach normal after the IPpool unlocked.

Handling Process

1, check the Operation Log, find custom run command RMV SECTION in 2016-9-8 8:37:44.

Root Cause

After committing “FRE IPPOOL” command, eCNS600 GWP force retrieve
the IP addresses of section 0
,
which are executed by detach procedure. In this problem, the detach
procedure of some UEs are not finished, while the MML command “RMV SECTION”, “ADD
SECTION” (The RMV SECTION/ADD SECTION are using the same IP segment, but the
section type is different) are committed. These two operations, “FRE IPPOOL”
and “RMV SECTION/ADD SECTION” caused a failure of IPPOOL-SECTION relationship
in storage, which caused a GWP process reboot.

Notes:

The “DSP IPPOOL” command is
just checking the status of IPPOOL in the section table, it didn’t feedback the
status of the PDP context status in eCNS600.



Solution

 

1.    
Ues “DSP GWPDPCTX” to query the
first IP of the section need to be modified, make sure there is no record
displayed.



2.    
Ues “DSP GWPDPCTX” to query the
last IP of the section need to be modified, make sure there is no record
displayed.



3.    
Ues “DSP GWPDPCTX” to query the
middle IP of the section need to be modified, make sure there is no record
displayed.



4.    
Use “DSP GWRES” to query the
amount of the PDPs before and after the “FRE IPPOOL” command, make sure the
change of the amount is the same as planned.



If there is overlap of added section and deleted section,
make sure the section type is the same.



Suggestions

“RMV SECTION”, “FRE IPPOOL” are dangerous command, it’s not
recommended to do such operation in regular time, it may cause the CPU or
storage failure.

If the operation is inevitable, please first make sure the IP resources are all
retrieved successfully, then commit the section modification.
