How to offline one of the OS disk configured in RAID 1

Issue Description
1.       To Offline one of the OS disk configured in RAID1 before upgrading the OS.
2.       Once the OS is upgraded, Procedure to sync the second disk(offline) with the primary one.
3.       Incase if the OS upgrade fails, how to bring up the OS with the other disk?
 

 

Solution

1. To offline HDD, shutdown server, unplug one of the RAID 1 HDD, example unplug HDD2.
2. Upgrade OS version, upgrade successful, shutdown server unplug the current HDD1 and plug in HDD2.
Power on server, access to webBIOS clear HDD2 RAID configuration, shutdown server plug in both HDDs, power on server access to webBIOS configure HDD2 as hot spare to rebuild.
3. If upgrade fail, reboot access to webBIOS clear HDD1 RAID configuration, shutdown server plug in both HDDs access to BIOS configure HDD1 as hot spare to rebuild.
