Fault phenomenon

The customer cannot manage the firewall through SSH, and the field engineer also sets the password through the console port

Handling Process

Because the customer  forgot the password of all login methods

so Start the firewall through the empty configuration, and then modify the configuration, here pay attention to the password hash.



Solution

Connect the device through the console port and restart the device. During device startup, press Ctrl+B when message "Press Ctrl+B to Enter Main Menu...3" is displayed and enter the BootROM password to enter the extended BootROM menu. Then perform the following steps to enable the device to start with the default configuration.

56.  Log in to the web UI by referring to Logging In to the Web UI Using HTTPS.

57.  Choose System > Configuration File Management and click Choose in the Configuration File upon Next Startup row. On the Configuration File Management tab, export the latest configuration file.


58.  Decompress this file on the PC to obtain vrpcfg.cfg. Use the text edit tool to change the administrator account password in the configuration file. For example, change the admin account password to Admin@1234.


59.  Upload the modified configuration file back to the device and configure it as the configuration file for the next startup.


60.  Choose System > Setup > Restart and click Restart to restart the device.

61.  After the device restarts, you can use the new user name and password (admin and Admin@1234) to log in, and the configuration has been restored to the latest configuration that you have saved.
