Handling Process

Collect all 4 servers iBMC logs as below guide and request BOQ for the purchase.

Root Cause

As per BOQ, the CPU which customer purchased is E5-2650 v4 which Power consumption will be 105W.

From the BMC logs, the CPU type installed on 4 servers are E5-2667 v4, Power comsumption:135W.

Above can be checked in iBMC logs. Path :- \dump_info\AppDump\CpuMem\cpu_info

Also, as per BOQ the shipping FAN BOM is 02310YKN which is 8056 Fan module.

Solution

When server installed with 2 Units CPU which power consumption is more than 135W , the fans modules must be 4 Units of 8056 Plus (BOM:02310YKP), otherwise BMC will report Fan failure alarm when boot up.

If customer wants to change the CPU type to E5-2667 v4, then they should choose the FAN modules 8056 Plus (BOM:02310YKP).

Suggestions

Check all the component compatibility when customize a server specification. Different type/model of CPU required different type of FAN, Power Modules and other components.
