Issue Description

The Vmware is sending to much alarm from a memory ECC error but from the iMana we the memory the status is OK

Alarm Information

From the Vcenter we can see the alarms generate by the memory ECC error:



Handling Process

In order to troubleshoot this issue we request the customer the following information.

 

  • Collect Hardware logs
  • Collect OS logs
  • Confirm version of the OS

Root Cause

From the hardware logs we were not able to find related issue with memory, we proceed to replace the memory due the customer report after he replace it the alarms stop, we analyze more deep the OS logs we find out the current version of OS has known issue handling the ECC alarms and the customer need to install a patch in order to solve the this alarms.

Solution

Customer update the ESXi version after that the issue didn't present again.

Suggestions

Customer should contact the OS vendor to more detail about the issue
