RH2288 V3 - HDD not recognized after server reboot

Issue Description

If Hitachi disk is in Power-Save mode and the disk is in “Unconfigured Good” status, after server restart it may be changed to Unconfigured Bad -> The fix until now was plug out / plug in HDD to work again.

Only disks that are not in RAID are affected.

Handling Process

To solve the issue power save mode must be disabled by following bellow steps:

 

1. Download Storcli from below link:

https://docs.broadcom.com/docs-and-downloads/raid-controllers/raid-controllers-common-files/1.23.02_StorCLI.zip

2. From windows CMD use storcli /c0 set ds=off type=2 to disable PowerSave Mode

 

 

 

Root Cause

If Hitachi disk is in Power-Save mode and the disk is in “Unconfigured Good” status, after server restart it may be changed to Unconfigured Bad.

Solution

1. Temporary solution is to disable Power Save mode.

2. Permanent solution will be in a fix that comes with new RAID Firmware upgrade.

Suggestions

Check disks that are not in a RAID group to find out the disk that causes Issues.
