The customer wants to change the mac-address of PPPOE sub-interface

Publication Date:  2018-03-01 Views:  131 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

Due to the requirement from the other service provider, the customer needs to change the mac-address of PPPOE sub-interface, but the physical interface or L2 sub-interface doesn't support to change mac-address, so need other method

Below is the original configuration from the customer:

      #

interface GigabitEthernet0/3/2.3986

user-vlan 3986

pppoe-server bind Virtual-Template 1

bas

#

  access-type layer2-subscriber default-domain authentication test

#

qos phb enable default

#

Alarm Information

No alarm.

Handling Process

1) Search in the product manual, find after configuring vlan-type dot1q, the mac-address of sub-interface can be changed. But with vlan-type dot1q, it is L3 interface which used with IPOE, doesn't meet the customer's requirement of using PPPOE.

2) Then again search in the product manual, find the mac-address of Eth-Trunk can be changed, so adding the physical interface under Eth-Trunk, change the mac-address of Eth-Trunk, then use the subinterface of Eth-Trunk for PPPOE.

Solution

#

interface GigabitEthernet0/3/2

undo shutdown

eth-trunk 1

undo dcn

statistic enable

#

interface Eth-Trunk1

mac-address 0659-7500-0000

statistic enable

#

interface Eth-Trunk1.3986

user-vlan 3986

pppoe-server bind Virtual-Template 1

bas

#

  access-type layer2-subscriber default-domain authentication test

#

END
