Failed to upgrade and configure eSpace IP phone in batches using DHCP Option 246.

Issue Description

you want to upgrade the IP phones  automatically in batch using DHCP + option 246 to get the last SW version and upload also the configuration file.
But after you follow all the steps nothing happened.

Alarm Information

The IP phone didn't take the new upgrade package automatically.

Handling Process

1. Configure the HTTP file Server.

2. Configure a DHCP server on the Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2012.

3. Prepare the configuration file (Config-eSpace8950.xml), signal tone file and certificate file of the target version for the specific phone model.

4. (Optional) Configure DNS Server

5. Prepare a UPF file. For details,

6. Set the Option 246 parameter of the DHCP server .

7. Power on all eSpace 8950s to be deployed.

All the IP phones based on the model , for Example eSpace 8950s automatically obtain their IP addresses and download desired UPF files.

According to the upgrade file directory specified in the UPF file, eSpace 8950s upgrade their

versions and download configuration files for batch configuration.

IF the IP Phone still didn't get the upgrade file Kindly do the following :

1. Capture the data using the wire shark and make sure that IP phone get the option 246 and get the UPF file .

2. Make sure the UPF file format is UTF-8 and its recommended to do the following :

Download and install this powerful free text editor: for Example Notepad++
Open the file you want to verify/fix in Notepad++
In the top menu select Encoding > Convert to UTF-8 (option without BOM)
Save the file.

Don't save the file using the windows notepad editor it save UTF-8 Bom  not UTF-8
