S5720S-28X-SI-AC

After plugging a voip telephone with static IP Address and checking a MAC Address

On switch port where this phone is plugged in, they can see Mac Address,

Without any complicated setups and configuration, just in default vlan

Everythings work OK.

Also, when we set a static IP address on PC and try to ping a Voip Telephone(Plugged to the same switch, in the same vlan)

It’s not corresponding.

Solution

Since when connected to the switch S5720SI, we decided during the remote session to see the port configuration for this switch. We could see the port negotiated to half duplex and speed 10M, and that means that the IP phone works in undo negotiation auto & speed 10M mode;
But the switch S5720EI can’t support half duplex so that the IP phone and the Switch negotiate to 100M(negotiation 100M) and the IP phone didn't send packets to the switch, so the switch can't learn MAC address and ARP. This was a compatibility problem at both ends.
After we change the configuration to undo negotiation auto&speed 10, the two IP phones(Silican CTS-203 and Siemens) are working now. We also suggest you configure the same commands if you connect these two IP phones to S5720SI.

Steps:

[HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet0/0/20]interface GigabitEthernet0/0/10

[HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet0/0/10]display this

#

interface GigabitEthernet0/0/10

 auto speed 10

 port link-type access

 port default vlan 180

#

return

[HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet0/0/10]undo negotiation auto

[HUAWEI-GigabitEthernet0/0/10]speed 10
