FAQ-Method Used to Configure DCC Transparent Transmission on an MSTP Device

Publication Date:  2018-09-11 Views:  215 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Method used to configure DCC transparent transmission on an MSTP device
Solution
The three scenarios of DCC transparent transmission on an MSTP device are as follows:

1. Huawei devices are in the center of a network, and devices from other vendors are at both ends of the network. These devices are managed by their respective NMSs using the D1 to D3 bytes for network management. In this case, Huawei devices can assign the D1 to D3 bytes of devices from other vendors to any three successive bytes among the D4 to D12 bytes to transparently transmit the management information of devices from other vendors.

2. Huawei devices are at both ends of a network, and devices from other vendors are in the center of the network. These devices are managed by their respective NMSs using the D1 to D3 bytes for network management. In this case, Huawei devices can assign their D1 to D3 bytes to any three successive bytes among the D4 to D12 bytes so that devices from other vendors can transparently transmit the management information of Huawei devices.

3. Other overhead bytes such as E2, F1, and X1 to X4 bytes are transparently transmitted by using idle D bytes.

To configure DCC transparent transmission on an MSTP device, perform the following steps:
1. Disable or delete the DCC channel on the interconnection port.
2. Select the NE from the NE Explorer. Choose Communication > DCC Management from the Function Tree.
3. Click the DCC Transparent Transmission Management tab.
4. Click New. The Create DCC Transparent Transmission Byte dialog box is displayed.
5. Set the parameters for the DCC transparent transmission byte.
6. Click OK. In the Operation Result dialog box that is displayed, click Close.
