Ping Packet Loss Occurs Because of the specification of the Parameters in CAR on an ME60

Publication Date:  2013-01-07 Views:  33 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

After a user in a domain of the ME60 goes online, the user cannot open a certain Web page. When you ping the website from the user through large-size packets, the ping fails; When you ping the website from the user through small-size packets, the ping succeeds.

Handling Process

1.         Check the MTU of the link. You can find that the MTU of the link is correct. The check on the users in other domains also shows that the MTU of the link is correct.

2.         Compare the differences between the domains and find that QoS is configured in the domain in which the fault occurs. The configuration is as follows.

 scheduler-profile 1

car cir 512 cbs 512 pbs 10240 upstream

car cir 2048 cbs 512 pbs 10240 downstream

The packets sent in the ping process are 1000 bytes. The committed burst size (CBS) is set too small, failing to define the maximum burst packet size. As a result, the packets are discarded.

3.         The problem is resolved after the CBS value is set to 2000 bytes.

Root Cause

The committed burst size (CBS) is set too small, failing to define the maximum burst packet size.

Solution

The problem is resolved after the CBS value is set to 2000 bytes.
