Association Between BFD and OSPF Fails to Take Effect Because BFD is Configured on an LPUB

Issue Description

BFD is configured on an NE40E running V300R003C02B697, and the BFD session is associated with OSPF on the NE40E. However, the BFD session status remains Down after the configuration is complete.

The following command output shows the BFD session status.

Handling Process

The on-site Huawei technical support personnel check the BFD configuration and find no fault.

They check the software version running on the NE40E. Since BFD can be configured on NE40Es running V300R003C02B697 at the other sites, the problem does not lie in the software version.

They check the LPU on which BFD is configured. BFD is configured on the LPUB on the NE40E.

The Huawei headquarters confirm that LPUBs support neither the BFD configuration nor the association between BFD and other features.

Root Cause

The LPUB supports neither the BFD configuration nor the association between BFD and other features.

Solution

Replace the LPUB with another type of LPU that supports the BFD configuration.
