After Inter-AS Option B Is Configured on the NE80E, an Alarm "mplsxcup is suppressed" Is Generated

Publication Date:  2013-09-03 Views:  27 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Networking: NE80E------------M320
Requirement: The NE80E uses AS65XXX and functions as the VPN RR and ASBR-PE. The M320 on the provincial backbone network uses AS17XXX and functions as the ASBR-PE on the provincial network.

Handling Process

In Option B mode, to establish a BGP peer relationship using loopback addresses, use LDP to set up a tunnel between two ASBRs. Use BGP to allocate tags to each route.
Users on the live network frequently get online or offline. Each time a user gets online or offline, an ASBR LSP is created or deleted respectively.

The following commands are configured on the live network:
 snmp-agent trap enable lsp mplsxcup
 snmp-agent trap enable lsp mplsxcdown

When an LSP is Up or Down, an alarm is generated.
Root Cause

Users on the live network frequently get online or offline. Each time a user gets online or offline, an ASBR LSP is created or deleted respectively.

The following commands are configured on the live network:
 snmp-agent trap enable lsp mplsxcup
 snmp-agent trap enable lsp mplsxcdown

When an LSP is Up or Down, an alarm is generated.
Solution
To prevent a large number of alarms due to numerous LSPs, run the following commands to control the frequency for displaying alarms:
snmp-agent trap suppress feature-name lsp trap-name mplsxcup trap-interval
snmp-agent trap suppress feature-name lsp trap-name mplsxcdown trap-interval
By default, the preceding commands are configured and the suppression interval is 60s.
Run the following commands on the live network:
snmp-agent trap suppress feature-name lsp trap-name mplsxcup trap-interval 65535
snmp-agent trap suppress feature-name lsp trap-name mplsxcdown trap-interval 65535

No alarm is displayed in the logs.
Suggestions

LSP suppression:
LSPM has one timer that controls LSP alarms. The timer traverses LSP alarms every second.
LSP Up and Down events are processed separately.
Assume that there is one LSP Up event. In the suppression period (60s), collect statistics on LSP Up events. If the value is 0, no information is displayed. Otherwise, information about suppressed LSPs is displayed.
