Publication Date:  2013-09-03 Views:  36 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
NE40E-X8 version: V6R1C00SPC800+SPC026
Symptom: In the fourth subslot (displayed as LPUF-3) in slot 1 on the NE40E-X8, ports 6 and 7 on LPUF-3 cannot be added to the Eth-Trunk.
The following message is displayed:
Error: The interface GigabitEthernet1/3/6 can not join the trunk group.
Handling Process
1. Check the configuration.
2. Check the software.
3. Check the hardware.
Root Cause
N/A
Solution
1. Check the configuration on the two ports.
[4001-KPG2-CXAG1]display current-configuration interface gi 1/3/6
# interface GigabitEthernet1/3/6   //
No special configuration exists on the port.
undo shutdown
#
return
[4001-KPG2-CXAG1]int gi 1/3/6
[4001-KPG2-CXAG1-GigabitEthernet1/3/6]eth
[4001-KPG2-CXAG1-GigabitEthernet1/3/6]eth-trunk 10  //
An error occurs during the configuration.
Error: The interface GigabitEthernet1/3/6 can not join the trunk group.
[4001-KPG2-CXAG1-GigabitEthernet1/3/6]
[4001-KPG2-CXAG1-GigabitEthernet1/3/6]q

According to the preceding interface configurations and error information, the manual configuration is correct.
2. Give feedback to the product R&D contact for simulating the problem.
3. The product R&D personnel consult the software platform R&D personnel. The analysis result is that ports 6 and 7 on LPUF-3 cannot be added to the Eth-Trunk. If the two ports are added to the Eth-Trunk, multicast traffic cannot be forwarded because 587 port numbers are insufficient. For details, see the attachment.
Suggestions
The 8*GE card should not be installed in the last slot of the LPUF. If not all GE cards are used, install the card in slots 0, 1, and 2 preferentially.
