BFD Session on NE40E Was Not Up Because Equipment of Vendor Z Did Not Send BFD Packets

Issue Description
Huawei's NE40E (V6R3) and peer vendor Z's equipment were configured as EBGP peers, which were bound with a BFD session. However, the BFD session failed to be up.
Handling Process

Huawei completed the following steps to diagnose the problem:

1. Checked the configurations of the NE40E. The NE40E was correctly configured.

2. Set the debug BFD switch to on for the NE40E (if the interval of sending BFD packets was short, the debugging time was short). BFD packets were sent, but no BFD packets were received.

When a BFD session is down, BFD packets are sent at an interval of 10 to 15 minutes. According to the preceding information, the interval was 14500 ms. This value was normal.

The preceding analysis indicated that vendor Z's equipment did not properly send BFD packets.
Root Cause
Vendor Z's equipment did not send BFD packets to Huawei's NE40E.
Solution
Request vendor Z to solve the problem.
Suggestions
If a BFD session is not up in an interconnection scenario, troubleshoot the problem as follows:
a. If no background traffic exists, delete traffic statistics for the port, start traffic measurement again, and determine whether BFD packets are properly sent and received based on the newly collected statistics.
b. If background traffic exists, issue debugging BFD packet for fault diagnosis.
