IPv6 not working after MPU change due to license

Publication Date:  2013-08-31 Views:  45 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Version: V3R3
Customer reported MPU fault, we replaced the MPU with good one, after that IPv6 was not working. As customer was using V3R3 so they were using license for IPv6 already, because V3R3 does not support IPv6 function by default.

IPv6 interface was up on loopback but we could not ping:
LoopBack0 current state : UP
Line protocol current state :UP (spoofing)

IPv6 is disabled by license,
link-local address is FE80::300 [TENTATIVE]
  Global unicast address(es):
    2400:FC00:8000:3FF::2, subnet is 2400:FC00:8000:3FF::2/128 [TENTATIVE]
  Joined group address(es):
    FF02::1:FF00:2
    FF02::1:FF00:300
    FF02::2
    FF02::1
  MTU is 1500 bytes
  ND DAD is enabled, number of DAD attempts: 1
  ND reachable time is 30000 milliseconds
  ND retransmit interval is 1000 milliseconds
  Hosts use stateless autoconfig for addresses

Handling Process
We checked the router and found that license was present there, and this license was working on other equipments fine. but as the MPU was changed the new MPU ESN was not present in the license, so we could not activate the license on new MPU.

Root Cause
N/A
Solution
To remove this fault we need to add the new MPU ESN through license.huawei.com, steps are below:

1. goto license.huawei.com
2. on the left side select 'GTS Portal'
3. select 'ESN Change'
4. Select as per your requirement either 'Single ESN Change' or 'Batch ESN Change'

After that new ESN will be included and license can be used.

Suggestions
whenever MPU change is required and the device is running some license, modify the license and include the ESN of new MPU.
