Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  306 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Q:How to use the call-log functionality newly developed for MA5200G?

Alarm Information

Handling Process

Root Cause
Functions: it serves to output the network access log (with online and offline logs only) of a user to the given server, using syslog protocol.

Configuration methods: (part in red is required)

1 Enter the call-log view

2 Configure a group

[MA5200G-call-log]group test

3 Turn on call-log switch of slot need to record (required)

[MA5200G-call-log]enable slot 2

The main functions the configuration: by default, the switch for call-log of all slots is disable, so it needs to turn on the switches of slots need to record before using. That it is disable by default aims to avoid sending the record of each slot of MA5200G to host. Once the switch of relevant slot is opened, the corresponding slot will send the records to host according to the policies configured later.

4 Configure policy

MA5200G could output the user log that matches policy configured to relevant log server.

[MA5200G-call-log]policy 1 enable slot 2―of which “1” is only a sequence number of a policy, and “enable slot 2” is required, functioning to make slot 2 output the log;

The following policies are optional, if they are not configured, the information on all users under slot 2 will be output:

[MA5200G-call-log]policy 1 isp Huawei―only user log information in domain of Huawei under slot 2 is recorded;

[MA5200G-call-log]policy 1 usertype―only the log information of users that agree with the following user type under slot 2 is recorded;

  dot1x    802.1X user

  dynamic  L2 dynamic user

  l2tp     L2TP user

  l3       L3 user

  others   Other user

  portal   Web authentication user

  ppp      PPPoe,PPPoa , PPPoeoa

  static   L2 static user

  telnet   Telnet user

  wlan     Wlan user

5 Bind the policy configured to the group configured in step 2:

[MA5200G-call-log]policy 1 group test―then the group represents for the policy, and we could put multiple policies configured into the same group which is similar to a container with multiple policies filled; in the following configuration, bind the container to relevant server so that all the all the user logs that match the policies in test group are output to relevant server

6 Configure the log server:

[MA5200G-call-log]server group test―thus, all the user logs that match the policies in test group are output to relevant server.

FAQ: Perhaps a question occurs to your mind-- there is enable slot in global mode, why should the policy be configured another enable slot? They could be regarded as general switch and branch, but remember, they must be configured.
