Q: What are the multicast replication methods of MA5200G (VRP3.30-23xx)?
MA5200G 23xx has three replication methods for multicast, including interface-based replication, user-based replication and multicast VLAN/PVC replication.
1. Interface-based replication:
a. The master interface is not configured with multicast-vlan/pvc, so it is using interface-based replication. For users of IPOE, IPOEOV, PPPOE, and PPPOEOV, the multicast packets received are of IPOE packets without VLAN, in the mode of interface-based replication.
b. It is added with verification for ATM user, and ATM users cannot use interface-based replication, but only user-based or multicast PVC replication.
2. User-based replication:
a. If the master interface is not configured with multicast-vlan/pvc, the users accessed under the interface are in the mode of user-based replication. Tthe multicast packets are forwarded according to the encapsulation type of accessed users.
b. In the mode of user-based replication, the packets are replicated according to the access type of users. For each accessed user of PPPOE, PPPOEOV, and IPOEOA, one copy of multicast packets are replicated; for IPOEOV users, the packets are replicated according to different VLANs. That is, for different accessed users from the same VLAN, only one copy of multicast packets are replicated according to VLAN encapsulation.
3. Multicast VLAN/PVC replication:
a. The master interface is configured with multicast-vlan/pvc, it is in the mode of multicast VLAN and PVC replication.
b. In such a mode, the multicast packets forwarded carry multicast VLAN or multicast PVC. To let the packets with the VLAN/PVC through, configure the switch or DSLAM connected accordingly, so the multicast packets could be through to reach users.
