Q: How to differentiate MA5200F's user-car, host-car and user-host-car?
user-car is for services of users (viz. user bandwidth), and it is used to limit the bandwidth of accessed users under MA5200. During configuring the services, set a proper value for each car of all levels, and then specify a car level for the user. The peak rate msut be higher than the average. To reach the optimal value, it is suggested to set to five times of that.
host-car command is used to set the CAR value of MA5200F at network, limiting the bandwidth of CPU of MA5200F as to avoid attacks on MA5200F. By default, the level-0 CAR has the basic rate of 200kbps, average rate of 200kbps, peak rate of 1Mbps; the level-1 CAR has the basic rate of 100kbps, average rage of 100kbps, the peak rate of 500kbps.
user-host-car is for the packets from users to host, limiting the bandwidth from users to CPU of MA5200F. For packets such as protocol packets for users to access network, arp packets or icmp packets in ping to MA5200F, all these need to reach CPU of MA5200F for processing. Through the restriction on the bandwidth of channel from each user to CPU, the CPU of MA5200F is protected from attacking. If the CPU utilization of system is found very high, modify the value.
