Incorrect Installation of UltraPath on AIX Causes the "defined" Path Status

Publication Date:  2012-07-17 Views:  550 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
At an office, the P550 small machine and the S5500 storage device were connected, and 10 LUNs were allocated for the P550 small machine where UltraPath was installed. When the lspath command was executed to query the path status, certain paths were displayed in defined state.
Alarm Information
Handling Process
1. Uninstall UltraPath and restart the P550 small machine.
# installp -u UltraPath-1.15.001.AIX5.3
# shutdown -Fr
2. Install UltraPath of the new version and restart the P550 small machine.
# installp -acd UltraPath-1.30.001.AIX5.3.ppc_64.bff
# shutdown -Fr
3. Run the lspath command to view path status. All paths are in normal state.
# lspath
Root Cause
After UltraPath of the early version is uninstalled, the P550 small machine is not restarted. The direct installation of new version UltraPath causes the abnormal status of paths.
