Issue Description
The problem occurred in the following environment:
Master server: Windows 2003 SP2 x64, NetBackup 6.5.4
Media server: SUSE Enterprise Linux 10.2 x64, NetBackup 6.5.4

Details on the problem:
The user attempted to add the NetBackup 6.5.4 SUSE Linux media server to the master server. The media server host name can be viewed on the master server, but the media server icon has an exclamatory mark. The user viewed the properties of the media server, the system reported that it cannot connect to the media server.
Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
Run the yast command to initiate the xinetd service, and enable the ICS communication port for the NetBackup so that the media server can communicate with the master server.
Root Cause
On SUSE Linux Enterprise 10.2, the xinetd service is not automatically started by default. However, the NetBackup media server and the master server use ICS communication. The ICS communication port is initiated by the xinetd service.
Because the port is not enabled, the media server cannot normally communicate with the master server, specifically, the media server cannot send messages to the master server. So the status of the media server on the master server is abnormal.

Suggestions
Because the xinetd service is not initiated by default during installation of SUSE Linux Enterprise 10.2. Check whether the xinetd service is initiated and whether the service is automatically initiated at different startup levels. If the service is not automatically initiated, advise the customer to configure automatic initiation for the service.
