Issue Description

An error that the log volume is unavailable is prompted when the replication volume is activated to replicate data.

Handling Process

1. Run the vxprint command to check the status of disks in the production center and disaster recovery center.
If the status of the disks is local_failing or failing, scan the disks again. Next, perform the Clear failing operation.
2. Run the vxrecover -g diskgroupname -b command to repair the disk in the disk group. diskgroupname refers to the name of the disk group.
3. Run the vxprint command to check the status of the log volumes of the primary and secondary controllers.
If the status of the log volume is DISABLED, run the vxvol –g diskgroup start volume command to recover the status. If the log volume cannot be recovered, it indicates that the header data of the log volume is damaged. Thus, you need to recover it as follows:
4. Run the vxrvg –g diskgroup stop rvgname command to stop RVG.
diskgroup refers to the name of the disk group and rvgname refers to the name of the replication volume group.
5. Run the vxvol –g diskgroup dis srlname command to separate the log volume.
diskgroup refers to the name of the disk group and srlname refers to the name of log volume.
6. Run the vxvol –g diskgroup start srlname command to restart the log volume.
diskgroup refers to the name of the disk group and srlname refers to the name of log volume.
7. Run the vxvol –g diskgroup aslog rvgname srlname command to remount the log volume.
diskgroup refers to the name of the disk group, rvgname refers to the name of the replication volume group, and srlname refers to the name of the log volume.
8. Run the vxrvg –g diskgroup start rvgname command to restart RVG.
diskgroup refers to the name of the disk group and rvgname refers to the name of the replication volume group.
9. Activate the replication volume to replicate data.
For details, see Setting the Status of the Replicate Volume Group in the Oceanspace VIS6000 Series Virtual Intelligent Storage System Initial Configuration Guide.
10. If the fault persists, seek technical support.
