Issue Description

The HRP function is enabled on both the master and slave SVN3000s. As shown in Figure 1, there is no HRP prefix in the command line prompt.

Alarm Information
None.
Handling Process
  • Cause one: The interface is not in Up state.

    1. Run the display interface GigabitEthernet command to view GigabitEthernet0/x current state and Line protocol current state in the information that is displayed.
      • If the interface is in Up state, check the configuration of the management group according to cause two.
      • If the interface is not in Up state, perform the following steps to troubleshoot the fault.
    2. Make sure that the network interface for data communications is connected to the LAN switch or peer device. Check whether the LINK indicator is on.
      • If the LINK indicator is on, check whether the hot backup prompt is displayed. If the prompt is not displayed, check the configuration of the management group according to cause two.
      • If the LINK indicator is off, perform the following steps to locate the fault.
    3. Enter the interface view (the interface corresponds to the LINK indicator that is off). Then run the undo shutdown command.
      <SVN3000> system-view
Enter system view , return user view with Ctrl+Z.
      [SVN3000] interface GigabitEthernet 0/0
      [SVN3000-GigabitEthernet0/0] undo shutdown

Then check whether the LINK indicator is on.
    • If the indicator is on, check whether the hot backup prompt is displayed.
    • If the indicator is off, it indicates that the network is disconnected or the network interface on the device is faulty.

  • Cause two: The configuration of the management group is incorrect.

    1. Run the display vrrp-group verbose command to view the running status of the VRRP management groups in the system.
      • If there are no VRRP management groups, configure them according to the Configuration Guide. After the configurations are complete, check whether the hot backup prompt is displayed. If the prompt is not displayed, perform the following steps to locate the fault.
      • If there are VRRP management groups, but the value of state is displayed as Initialize, perform the following steps to locate the fault.
    2. Run the display this command in the VRRP management group view.
      <SVN3000> system-view
      [SVN3000] vrrp group 1
      [SVN3000-vrrpgroup-1] display this
      #
      vrrp group 1
add interface GigabitEthernet0/1 vrrp vrid 1 data
       vrrp-group enable
       undo vrrp-group preempt
       undo vrrp-group group-send
      #

Check the following according to the information that is displayed:
      • Check whether attribute data is configured on the interfaces of the backup groups. If there is no data channel with attribute data in the VGMP management groups, the status of VGMP is Initialize. In this case, run the add interface command to add a certain VRRP backup group that is related to the interface to the VRRP management group and specify the data channel.

For example, add VRRP group 1 including GigabitEthernet 0/1 to VRRP management group 1, and set the related link of the interface to a data channel.
        <SVN3000> system-view
        [SVN3000] vrrp group 1
[SVN3000-vrrpgroup-1] add interface GigabitEthernet 0/1 vrrp vrid 1 data
      • Check whether the management group is enabled. If it is disabled, run the vrrp-group enable command in the VRRP management group view.

Root Cause

In normal cases, after the HRP function is enabled, there is prefix HRP_M or HRP_S in the command line prompt, which indicates the master or slave device respectively. If there is no HRP prefix in the command line prompt after the HRP function is enabled, the possible causes are as follows:

Cause one: The interface is not in Up state.

Cause two: The configuration of the management group is incorrect.
