Login Through Serial Port Fails Due to Inconsistent Serial Port Rates

Issue Description

When the maintenance terminal connects to the serial port of a storage device through the serial port cable, the serial port outputs garbage codes and no login prompt appears.

  • The OS is Windows 2003

Handling Process
  1. Close the opened serial port manager on the maintenance terminal.
  2. Restart the serial port manager on the maintenance terminal.
  3. Set values for the attributes including baud rate, data bits, parity check, and stop bits.

     

    The values should be set as follows:

    • Baud rate: 115200 bit/s
    • Data bits: 8
    • Parity check: none
    • Stop bits: 1

     

  4. After the configuration completes, try to log in again.

  1. The maintenance terminal outputs garbage codes after the serial port cable is replaced.
  • Conclusion:
    • The login through serial port fails due to inconsistent serial port rates.
