Handling Process
The successful installation of the UltraPath software is the key to avoid redundant disk drives. The procedure is as follows:
Step 1  After the Windows Server 2003 Edition or Enterprise Edition is properly installed, go to the \Windows\Packages directory of the delivery-attached CD-ROM. Double-click the UltraPath-01.01.14T01.win2k3.x64 installation package to install the UltraPath software. Wait until the installation completes.
Step 2  Decompress the package in the attachment and copy the contents to the C:\UltraPath\bin directory. Overwrite the existing redundant files.
Step 3  Go to the C:\UltraPath\bin directory. Right-click the install.bat file. Click Run to install the UltraPath software.
Step 4  Connect the optical fibers between the server and the storage system and enable the communication between them. After that, the server detects the LUNs mapped from the S2600.
Root Cause
If the OceanStor S2600 is of the V100R001C01B034 or an early version and the operating system on the server is Windows Server 2003 (X64), the UltraPath software usually fails to be installed. The redundant disk drives displayed is caused by this installation failure.
After the OceanStor S2600 is installed, it is recommended to upgrade it to the latest version. The OceanStor S2600 of the V100R001C01B034 or an early version strongly requires the upgrade. The previous procedure is dedicated to avoid redundant disk drives.
