CHAP Authentication of PPP Fails

Publication Date:  2012-07-27 Views:  257 Downloads:  0
Issue Description

A USG is connected to a device of other vendors, and the CHAP authentication is configured between interfaces. The authentication, however, fails.

Alarm Information
Handling Process
  1. In the interface view, run the display this command to view the CHAP configuration. If the user name of the authenticator is the same as that of the client, configure the two user names to be different.
  2. After changing the CHAP configuration, restart the interfaces at both ends to validate the configuration. In the interface view, run the shutdown command to close the interface, and then run the undo shutdown command to restart the interface.
Root Cause

Devices of some vendors require the user name of the authenticator to be different from that of the authenticated during the CHAP authentication. However, USG do not have such requirement.

Before interconnecting the devices of different vendors, learn the differences in implementing features on these devices.
