Issue Description
The VM which the type is linked clone can support automatic restore upon shut down, it can’t automatic restore upon log off. For some scenarios, Customers need linked clone VM can automatic restore when they log off.
Handling Process
1. When create the Linked clone VM template, do the “Create a Linked Clone VM Template” step, after “Active KMS” and before “Complete the VM template creation” according to the Fusion Cloud Product document FusionCloud Desktop Appliance (XXXXX) Solution Documentation-(V100R005C10_XXX).

2. Login the VM by VNC Login the VM on the Fusion Computer or Fusion Sphere Web portal.

3. On the VM, click Start, enter gpedit.msc in Search programs and files, and click OK. The Local Group Policy Editor window is displayed.

4. In the navigation tree, choose User Configuration > Windows Settings > Scripts(Logon/Logoff), as shown in



5. Double click “Logoff”, the Logoff properties is display. Click “add”, the “add a Script” wizard is display.



6. Click “Browse”, choose the script or create a file named “shutdownVM.bat”



7. Right click “shutdownVM.bat”, choose “Edit”, input “shutdown –s –t 0”, save file;



8. Keep choose the file, click “open”, click “ok”, close the “add a Script” wizard, and click “ok” and “apply”to close the “Logoff  properties”.
Root Cause
The Linked clone VM can only automatic restore when the VM shut down, so the easiest way to implement Automatic restore upon log off is that shut down the VM when users log off the linked clone VM. To achieve this. It need a trigger to shut down the VM when Users log off the VM.

To realize automatic restore upon log off, the storage of the system must be virtualization storage. And The system and the template must do the configuration of automatic restore upon shut down. The Desktop Group must select “Support System Restoration”, as below:


Suggestions
Linked clone VM automatic restore upon log off is add the script to shutdown the VM when the users log off, so if the site need automatic restore upon log off, the device must support automatic restore upon shut down.
