Failed to Connect the eSpace U1980 to MA5680T GPON Devices

Issue Description
The eSpace U1980 connected with gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON) devices, including the HG8247 small-sized ONU and MA5620 24-port ONU. Analog phones connected to the HG8247 ONU can register with the eSpace U1980 and make voice calls properly. However, when users pick up analog phones connected to the MA5620 24-port ONU, the busy tone is heard.
Handling Process
Based on the analysis result, find the numbers of all phones connected to the MA5620 24-port ONU, and prefix the EIDs of these numbers with a plus sign (+). For example, to prefix the EID of short number 4000 with a plus sign (+), run the following command:
config add sipue eid +4000 authorizationtype noauth

Allocate numbers and check whether the fault is rectified.

After multiple tests, analog phones connected to the MA5620 24-port ONU can register with the eSpace U1980 and make voice calls properly, and other main supplementary services also run properly.

To improve scalability and flexibility of services in this project, prefix the EIDs of all user numbers with a plus sign (+) before delivering the project. In this way, an analog phone can register with the eSpace U1980 and make voice calls properly no matter to which ONU the analog phone is connected.
Root Cause
1. Run the show sipue eid xxxx command on the eSpace U1980, and check the registration status of analog phones connected to the HG8247 ONU and MA5620 24-port ONU. It is found that analog phones connected to the HG8247 ONU successfully register with the eSpace U1980 but analog phones connected to the MA5620 24-port ONU fail to register with the eSpace U1980.

2. Check the data configurations on the MA5620 24-port ONU. According to the data configurations on the HG8247 ONU, the data configurations on the MA5620 24-port ONU are correct.

3. Capture the packets for phones connected to the two ONUs, and analyze the SIP messages to locate the fault. Based on the logs, short number 4003 belongs to the HG8247 ONU and can register with the eSpace U1980 properly. Short number 4000 belongs to the MA5620 24-port ONU and cannot register with the eSpace U1980. The busy tone is heard when a user picks up the phone whose number is 4000. Based on the analysis and comparison, the registration message for number 4000 contains an extra plus sign (+) at the start of the EID compared with that for number 4003.
Suggestions
1. When a number registration failure occurs on the gateway, first verify that the data configurations on terminals are correct.

2. When connection problems occur between new terminals and IP PBXs, analyze SIP signaling to determine which negotiation process is faulty to quickly provide the countermeasure.

3. The projects involving connections between IP PBXs and optical networks are increasing. It is recommended that R&D engineers from the optical network product line and the UC&C product line to enhance communication, and to improve the connection features of the two products for Huawei to win more customers.
