Wrong timezone of NVR6128

Problem Description:

In yast - system - date and time, if we choose Africa-Caiso,

6128:~ # cat /etc/sysconfig/clock |grep TIMEZONE TIMEZONE="Africa/Cairo"

DEFAULT_TIMEZONE="US/Eastern"

6128:~ # date

Fri May  8 10:17:43 EEST 2015

As we can see, it shows that the timezone is EEST, which is DST time. But Egypt is not a DST zone.

Handling Process

1. Ask help from SuSE, SuSE confirmed it's a known bug and need to upgrade the RPM version of timezone to timezone-2015c-0.5.1.x86_64.rpm

2. Run the command below to upgrade the timezone RPM.

# rpm -Uvh timezone-2015c-0.5.1.x86_64.rpm

3. Restart the server if it's convenient.

Known bugs of SuSE.

Solution

1. Upgrade the timezone RPM to timezone-2015c-0.5.1.x86_64.rpm

# rpm -Uvh timezone-2015c-0.5.1.x86_64.rpm

2. Restart the server

Please prepare a newer version when pre-installed in the NVR6128 to avoid known bugs.
