How to log in to the iMana command-line interface (CLI)?
Solution
Prerequisites:

NOTICE:
  • The X6000 iMana CLI can be logged in to over Secure Shell (SSH). The number of login users is not limited.
  • The CLI for RH series server or the E6000 can be logged in over SSH or Telnet. A maximum of five users can log in to the CLI simultaneously.
  • To log in to the RH series server iMana CLI over a serial port, you must connect the serial port on the configuration terminal to the serial port on the server by using a serial cable.
  • To log in to the E6000 iMana CLI over a network port, you must connect the network port on the configuration terminal to the network port on the server by using a network cable, and ensure that the IP addresses of the two network ports are on the same network segment.
  • To log in to the X6000 iMana CLI over a network port, you must connect the network port on the configuration terminal to the iMana network port on the server by using a network cable, and ensure that the IP addresses of the two network ports are on the same network segment.
The rack servers provide management network ports of 100 Mbit/s on the rear panels of the chassis. You can connect the network port by using a network cable directly.

The panel of a server blade does not provide any network port. The iMana network port on each server blade is connected to the management module through the backplane. The built-in switch chip in the management module connects the network port on the panel of the management module to the iMana network ports on the server blades in the ten slots, as shown in Figure 1.

Therefore, you can log in to the management network ports of the server blades through the network port on the panel of the E6000 management module. For details about how to query and set the IP address of the management module network port, see the Management Module User Guide.

Login Method:
  • SSH
  • Telnet
  • Local serial port
NOTE:
The default user of the iMana CLI is root, and the default password is Huawei12#$ or root.
If a user enters incorrect passwords for consecutive five times, the system locks the user. The user can log in to the CLI again after 5 minutes, or an administrator can unlock the user on the CLI.
To ensure the system security, change the initial password at the first login and change the password periodically.

Login over SSH

The SSH protocol provides secure remote login and other secure network services on an insecure network.

The method of logging in to the iMana CLI over SSH varies according to operating system (OS):

If the client runs Linux:
  1. Connect the client network port and the server management network port.
  2. Enter ssh ipaddress on a terminal tool, such as shell, to log in to the iMana CLI.
If the client runs Windows:
  1. Download and install the SSH client communication tool.
  2. Connect the client network port and the server management network port.
  3. Enter the IP address of the management port, user name, and password for logging in to the iMana CLI using the client communication tool.
Login over Telnet

Login over Telnet is an insecure login method. Login over Telnet is disabled by default on the iMana web user interface (WebUI). If you need to use Telnet for login, enable the Telnet service on the iMana WebUI.

The method of logging in to the iMana CLI over Telnet varies according to OS:

If the client runs Linux:
  1. Connect the client network port and the server management network port.
  2. Enter telnet ipaddress on a terminal tool, such as shell, to log in to the iMana CLI.
If the client runs Windows:
  1. Connect the client network port and the server management network port.
  2. Enter telnet ipaddress on a terminal tool, to log in to the iMana CLI.
Login over a Serial Port

NOTICE:
Before logging in to the iMana CLI over a serial port, ensure that the system serial port of the chassis is switched to the iMana serial port. For details about how to switch the serial port, see the iMana User Guide of each server.
The method of accessing the iMana CLI through the serial port applies to rack servers only.

1.  Connect a serial cable.

2.  Log in to the iMana CLI by using HyperTerminal, and set the following parameters:
  • Bits per second: 115200
  • Data bits: 8
  • Parity: none
  • Stop bits: 1
  • Flow control: none

3.  Enter the user name and password after the connection is established.
