Failed to Forward an Incoming Call to an Intra-Office Number on the eSpace U1960 to an Outer-Office Number

Issue Description
An outer-office mobile user dials an intra-office number on the eSpace U1960. The call failed to be forwarded to another outer-office number.

An outer-office mobile user directly dials an outer-office number, or dials the VU switchboard and then is transferred to another outer-office number. The call is connected or forwarded successfully.

An intra-office user dials another intra-office number. The call is forwarded to an outer-office user successfully.
Handling Process
Step 1 Run the show softargu configinfor id 269 command to view the value of software parameter 269. The software parameter has been set to 1. Therefore, the intra-office number is sent to the carrier as the calling number. The first possible cause can be excluded because the intra-office number can make outgoing calls.

Step 2 Compare the SETUP messages for a successful and a failed call.

The first figure shows the SETUP message generated when the intra-office number forwards an incoming call from an outer-office mobile phone number to an outer-office number but the carrier rejects the call. In the Calling party number section, Type of number is National number.

The second figure shows the SETUP message generated when the intra-office number successfully forwards an incoming call from another intra-office number to an outer-office number. In the Calling party number section, Type of number is Subscriber number.

Step 3 Run the config protocol pra officeno x typeofclinumber subscriber command to change the type of the calling number. Incoming calls from outer-office numbers can be successfully forwarded to the specified outer-office number.

----End
Root Cause
Possible Cause:
  1. The calling number is authenticated on the carrier side. If the calling number carried by the eSpace U1960 during an outgoing call is not a number that the carrier assigns to the eSpace U1960, the carrier rejects the call.
  2. The number type contained in the SETUP message is incorrect. Therefore, the carrier rejects the call.
Suggestions
Before checking signaling, check whether the call is sent to the carrier side so that you can determine whether to check internal signaling on the eSpace U1960 or the signaling generated when the call is forwarded, which saves troubleshooting time.
