OceanStor S8100 Customer logins S8100's Node 0 failed through ISM

Issue Description

Customer configures device information to discover OceanStor S8100 device by ISM. ISM reports abnormal during the process of scanning device, which shows: The maximum number of clients is exceeded.

ISM reports abnormal, as following:

Handling Process

Through restart the process of Agent module, its a temporary solution for the issue. The steps as follows:

1.      Login to S8100 SCE’s CLI through the SSH terminal tool;

2.      Execute the command debug, enter the debug password (default is 654321);

3.      Execute the command cd /OSM/ISM/agent/conf, into Agent configuration directory;

4.      Execute the command ./stop_agent.sh, close Agent process;

5.      Execute the command ./ start _agent.sh, start Agent process;

6.      exit login;

Root Cause

S8100 SCE systems Agent module is responsible for the management network connection with external client. Since the number limit of the connection between ISM client and S8100 SCE Agent module (The maximum number of user IP connected with S8100 SCE only is 16, each IP can accept maximum 32 connections), these are calculated and saved by Agent module in order to check.

ISM client establishes a SSL connection with Agent. Then if network exception causes the connection established failure or abnormally exit ISM client, Agent module will increase the connection count by 1. But it wont reduce the connection count due to disconnection. (This means that Agent module manages the network connection with some problem when network occur exceptions.)

This network disconnection exception causes Agent module records the connection count increase continuously. When network connection count reaches the limit (The maximum number of user IP connected with S8100 SCE only is 16, each IP can accept maximum 32 connections), Agent module will not accept ISM client connection request, then ISM client reported the device discovery failed.

Solution

Suggest customer that when login S8100 each time through ISM, release the connection through exit ISM interface normally. When not exit ISM, not cut off the network between ISM client and S8100.

Suggestions

Due to abnormal situation in the network, Agent module manages the network connection with some problem. In order to avoid the connection count to reach the limit, suggest customer that when login S8100 each time through ISM, release the connection through exit ISM interface normally. When not exit ISM, not cut off the network between ISM client and S8100.
