Before you rename the media server, decommission it.

Stop the netbackup process, and change the host name of the media server in bp.conf
Change the host name and its resolution (also names of relevant hosts) to ensure that resolutions between the master server, media server, and clients match with the new host name.
Start the netbackup process.
5. Run the nbemmcmd -listhosts
command to check whether the new host name is listed. If no, refer to:

For manually adding the new host name.
Scan for the device again, and modify the storage unit settings in relevant policies.
Note: Some options of certain commands are only available in recently patched versions. Therefore, you are advised to use an up-to-date version.
Windows does not contain bp.conf
. To avoid too many items in the registry, you are advised to reinstall the NetBackup using the new host name after you decommission the media server.
