Missing Information Occurs in UPManager Under iSCSI Networking

Issue Description

When adopting the iSCSI networking, users can create the virtual disk after installing the multipathing software in Windows. However, only the information about MPIOLIST can be found on the UPManager interface, and the failover/failback function is abnormal.

Handling Process
Remove MS iSCSI Initiator.
  1. Choose Start > Control Panel.
  2. In the displayed Control Panel window, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. In the displayed Add or Remove Programs dialog box, click Microsoft iSCSI Initiator.

     

    The following screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 1.

  1. Click Remove next to Microsoft iSCSI Initiator.

     

    The following screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 2.

  2. Click Next.

     

    The following screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 3.

  3. Click Yes.

     

    The uninstallation of Microsoft iSCSI Initiator starts, and the following screen is displayed as shown in Figure 4 after uninstallation.

  4. Click Finish to restart the host.
  5. Reinstall the MS iSCSI Initiator without installing the supplied multipathing software.
  6. Double-click the MS iSCSI Initiator installer.

     

    The following screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 5.

  7. Click Next, and the Installation Options screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 6.

  8. Unselect Microsoft MPIO Multipathing Support for iSCSI and select Software Initiator, as shown in Figure 7.

  9. Click Next, and the License Agreement screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 8.

  10. Choose I Agree.
  11. Click Next, and the software installation screen is displayed, as shown in Figure 9.

  12. After the installation completes, click Finish to exit the installation screen.
Root Cause

When installing MS iSCSI Initiator, the supplied multipathing software is installed as well.

Suggestions

During the installation of MS iSCSI Initiator, it is not recommended to install the supplied multipathing software.
