FAQ-Why Cannot an OSPF Neighbor Relationship Be Established Between the Interconnected Firewall and NE40E When OSPF MD5 Authentication Is Configured on the Devices

Publication Date:  2015-07-01 Views:  423 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Why cannot an OSPF neighbor relationships be established between the interconnected firewall and NE40E when the ospf authentication-mode md5 command is run on the devices?
OSPF authentication is configured only on the interface connecting the firewall to the NE40E. Therefore, run the authentication-mode md5 command in the area where the interface resides to enable the OSPF authentication mechanism. OSPF authentication needs to be configured only on the interface connecting the NE40E to the firewall.

For example:

ospf 1
  authentication-mode md5

interface GigabitEthernet0/0/2
ip address
ospf authentication-mode md5 1 cipher 'OERX_4UNC+Q=^Q`MAF4<1!!
