How Can I set an IP address for the management port of a Fibre Channel switch?

  • VTL6000 V100R003
The VTL6000 has four configurations: the All In One, the VTL, the HA VTL, and the HA VTL with SIR. SNS2120 Fibre Channel switches are part of the HA VTL and the HA VTL with SIR.
  • VTL6900 V100R005
The VTL6900 has six configurations: the VTL-I, the VTL-IS, the VTL-AIO, the VTL-SL, the VTL-HA, and the VTL-HAS. Fibre Channel switches are part of the VTL-HA and the VTL-HAS.

1.  On the client PC, double-click the PUTTY Client icon.

The PuTTY Configuration dialog box is displayed.

NOTE:
   The customer must ensure that the PUTTY Client program has been installed.

2.  Enter a management port IP address of any VTL server and click Open.

The Security Warning dialog box is displayed.

NOTE:
   The default management port IP address of the VTL server is 192.168.10.1.

3.  Click Yes.

The command-line interface (CLI) is displayed.

4.  Enter the user name and password for logging in to the VTL server.

NOTE:
   The default user name and password for each VTL server are root and Admin@storage respectively.

5.  On the CLI, enter telnet 10.0.0.1 to log in to the switch.

NOTE:
   10.0.0.1 is the default switch IP address.

6.  Enter the user name and password for logging in to the Fibre Channel switch.

NOTE:
   The default user name and password for a Fibre Channel switch are admin and password respectively.

7.  Run the admin start command to open an Admin session.

8.  Run the Set Setup System ipv4 command to invoke the IPv4 configuration.

9.  Enter the new IP address (EthNetworkAddress), subnet mask (EthNetworkMask), and gateway address, and then enter y to save the settings for them to take effect.

10.  Run the show fabric command to verify the new IP address.

11.  Run the exit command to exit the CLI.
