Issue Description
Why Cannot Information About the Primary and Secondary Storage Systems Involved in a Remote Replication Be Updated in Real Time?
Solution
The symptoms and causes are as follows:
• Symptom 1: After a data synchronization is initiated between the primary and secondary LUNs of a remote replication, the secondary storage system fails to display the synchronization progress in real time.
Cause: To display the synchronization progress in real time during a data synchronization, the secondary storage system must send query tasks to the primary storage system. This adversely affects system performance.
• Symptom 2: After the name of the primary storage system is changed, the name displayed in the remote replication information is not updated in real time.
Cause: The name of the primary storage system displayed in the remote replication information is obtained by invoking the interface of the system management module, not by using the remote replication module. Therefore, in the event that a device name is changed, the remote replication does not automatically obtain the updated information. In this case, you can refresh the remote replication information or log in to the ISM again. Then, the updated name of the primary storage system is displayed.
To synchronize information about the primary and secondary storage systems in a timely manner, log in to the ISM and choose System > Refresh from the menu bar.
