FAQ-Connecting Cables to a Mouse, Keyboard, and VGA Port

Publication Date:  2015-06-16 Views:  357 Downloads:  0
Issue Description
Connecting Cables to a Mouse, Keyboard, and VGA Port.
Solution
Scenario:

After powering on a server, set the basic input/output system (BIOS) and redundant array of independent disks (RAID), and log in to the operating system (OS).

The server panel provides the DB15 video graphics array (VGA) port but has no standard PS2 port for a keyboard or mouse. You can connect a keyboard and a mouse to USB ports by using one of the following methods:
  • Connect the keyboard and mouse to the USB ports.
  • Connect the keyboard and mouse to the USB port by using a PS2 cable, as shown in Figure 1.
Procedure:

1.  Insert the USB connector on one end of a PS2 cable into the USB port on a server.

2.  Connect the connectors on the other end of the PS2 cable to the keyboard and mouse.

3.  Connect the DB15 connector on the VGA cable to the VGA port on the server, and tighten the two screws on the connector to secure the cable.

4.  Connect the other end of the VGA cable to the VGA port on the monitor.
