Issue Description
Related information about the product and version: the T3500
When Red Hat 5.3 is operating, the hard disk cannot be detected after the customer runs the fdisk -l command and the disk online status indicator before slot sdw is red on. Wait for three minutes after replacing the hard disk in slot sdw and the disk online status indicator keeps red on.

From right to left and from bottom to top, the 24 slots of the T3500 are numbered from a to x. The slot on the lower right is slot a. Figure 2-3 shows the disk slots.
The system disk of the T3500 is located in slot a and is used to carry the OS of the T3500.

Step 1     Enter the serial port 4 interface. For details, see 3.1 Entering the Serial Port Interface Of the T3500. Run the porte 4 command (4 corresponds to slot sdw).
Step 2     If the disk online status indicator is green on, the fault is removed.

Root Cause
Enter the serial port 4 interface. For details, see 3.1 Entering the Serial Port Interface Of the T3500. Run the porte 4 (4 corresponds to slot sdw) command and the online status indicator of the new disk is green on (that is, the red indicator is not on). It indicates that the faulty disk in slot sdw turns slot sdw to protection status and the slot does not accept new disks any more.

In the porte command, log_phyid indicates the logical slot number. From left to right and top to bottom, the leftmost logical number is 0 and the rightmost logical number is 23, as shown in Table 2-2.
Suggestions
Wait for three minutes after the hard disk is inserted and then check the disk online status indicator to determine whether the hard disk is normal.
