The driver of the backup software on the backup server is improperly installed.
The cause lies in the patches or upgrade related to the serialization of the backup software.
If the OS on the backup server can scan the device, but the backup software cannot discover
the device, check the driver of the backup software. Ensure that the driver matches the
property of the tape library/drive. It is suggested to use drivers of specified versions for
certain backup products.
If the OS can scan the device, but the backup software cannot scan the device, check the
serialization. The VTL3500 supports serialization. Serialization means to transfer the
content of objects to the serial flow. Serialization can decide the owner of each component,
such as a robot, slot, or tape drive. If the device is displayed in the backup software, but
not attached to the expected component, it may be related to serialization. For details on
