Issue Description

Log in to the ISM, the current status of activated virtual snapshots is displayed as disabled in the Logical area, and the icon becomes to .

Product and version information:
  • S2600
  • S5000 series

In the ISM, the fault information about disabled virtual snapshots can be found on the Fault Management screen.

Alarm Information
None
Handling Process
  1. Add LUNs to the resource pool for extended capacity.
  2. When the LUNs are successfully added, reactivate the virtual snapshots that were stopped.
Root Cause
  1. In the ISM, navigate to the Logical tab to unfold the navigation tree, and then select Pool.
  2. By checking the function pane, it is found that the value of Valid Capacity(GB) is much larger than the alarm threshold for resources.
     NOTE:

The value of the alarm threshold must be an integer and ranges from 50 to 100 (including 50 and 100), and the default value is 80.

Conclusion:

  • Virtual snapshots are automatically disabled when the capacity of the resource pool is insufficient or the resource pool is full.
Suggestions
Please make sure the capacity of the resource pool is sufficient. Take precautionary measures as suggested below to avoid this problem:
  • Set an appropriate alarm threshold for resource pools.
  • Add more resource LUNs timely when the used capacity of resource pools reaches or comes close to the alarm threshold.
  • Disable unused virtual snapshots timely to free up the space of resource pools.
  • The resource LUNs from the same resource pool should not be placed in the same disk enclosure.
